And by luck, I mean the bad kind. Oh, today wasn't such a bad day, but it was a hectic one, and the week as a whole has left me feeling fried. So this'll be brief.
I don't know what it is about me and Santa Barbara freeways this week, but it's quite obvious they don't like me. I was on my way home, when I heard a loud noise from under my car. I seemed to be driving fine afterward, so I didn't suspect anything and kept driving. After I entered the freeway, it became fairly obvious that something was wrong. The car rattled and shook, and it was difficult keeping it to stay straight. I pulled over to check it once, everything seemed to be fine, but after I re-entered the freeway, my car was smoking, so... you know... obviously something was wrong. I checked and - hooray! My first flat tire! Aaaand then I was stranded. Perfect! After a 3 hour excursion through SB on Monday, I was really hoping to be stuck again. (Sarcasm? No...!)
So I renewed my AAA subscription, got them to send over a guy to change my tire, and wandered to the nearest Firestone to get new tires. With 2 new tires (so the wear would be even, you know?) and a majorly corrected alignment, I suddenly found myself $250 more dollars in the red. Shoot! That could've bought me a stand mixer! Or that dresser we've been meaning to get so we don't just dump our clean clothes on the floor! Gah...
I'm actually feeling rather amused about the situation, though I wasn't happy about getting home at around 7pm. Oh! But my tire was still smoldering when the removed it from my trunk and disposed of it. That's... well, not a plus, but it's neat. Fun times! Is the week over yet?
