Break!

FINALLY done with this quarter! Can I just say, I don't think I've ever worked so hard. And I still couldn't keep up! I'm surprised I could even turn in all of my assignments on time! I'm really not sure what kind of grades I'll be getting in most of my classes, but I'm just reveling in the fact that I get some much-needed time off!

Skin problem drama was the name of the game last time, and unfortunately, there's not much change there. A couple weeks ago, I was supposed to have a biopsy to see what it is that I actually have, but the H1N1 vaccines came into Student Health that week, so my appointment was canceled to make room for all the chaos and demand for vaccines. I didn't get a chance to reschedule, but I think I'll try calling tomorrow to see if I can schedule for next Monday. I have to go in next week anyway, so I might as well try to kill two birds with one stone, so to speak. Maybe since Finals Week will be over by then, they won't be so busy and can easily fit me in. However, since I didn't get to get my biopsy, I was actually able to be seen for my skin anyway, so I could get some temporary relief from all the ickiness I described earlier. So I got lots of pills, some cream, and for two weeks, I had nice skin! It was really quite a nice change of pace, and it really helped me concentrate on the bajillion other things I had to do for school during that time. The rashes have returned somewhat, though, but it's a little better than it was before. I think I have it relatively under control for now, but it'd be nice if I could finally get some answers. And maybe it won't be so bad in the meantime, since I'll be far more relaxed now that school's done for 3 and a half weeks.

Now that school's done for the quarter, I'll have all this free time! What a novelty! I'm hoping I won't go too overboard in my revelry, since I'd like to do some background reading over the break. I have a few books from the library that I've been meaning to read, and I'd like to finally get around to them. I'm hoping to devote a few hours a day to reading, so it still feels pretty leisurely. The rest of the time will be for all the fun stuff I've set aside over the quarter, like knitting and baking and - most importantly - spending time with the ol' hubsters. I feel bad, because this whole quarter, most of the time I've been at home, I've still been doing work for school, and that's not really fair to him. I think it'd be fun to go to Little Tokyo together sometime over the break. The last time we went, we didn't really get a good chance to look around, so I'd really like to take some time to check out the shops and food. Especially the food. I'd also like to go to the Kinokuniya (Japanese book store) there. I feel like the time I've spent this quarter on my Japanese class was mostly devoted to memorizing kanji, and not enough time was spent on actually reading Japanese stories. I think I'd like to try reading a story or two over the break so I can improve my reading ability. I think it'd also be fun to pick up a Japanese knitting book or two, so I can try knitting from one of their patterns. Of course, money would be nice to have first, but that's a whole other can of beans I'm not willing to get into right now. I'm done being emo for the time being.

I think for now, I'm just going to enjoy time that's not spent scrambling to get 5 things done at once. A little time spent being bored might actually be nice for a while! I think it's healthy to have some time once in a while with nothing in particular to do.
