Though the goals I set for myself for the New Year and Lent haven’t really been working out too well, I’ve been feeling a nice sense of accomplishment lately. Sam and I went to Santa Barbara’s Stearn’s Wharf and State Street last Friday, which we’ve been meaning to do ever since the beginning of January. Sam’s birthday dinner was fun and went off without a hitch. I really like those social events where it’s only a small group of friends, chatting and drinking and laughing about stupid stuff. Then, this past weekend, I also did my taxes! I’ve always procrastinated until late March or early April before, so I’m proud of myself for not putting it off again this year. My tax refund should be on its way into my bank account, and we have plans to make that money work for us and make us a little more financially stable for a while. With fewer bills, we can start saving and maybe even buy ourselves some fun things for once!
It seems that when money is tight, I always end up thinking about the things I want but don’t really need. I hate that kind of mindset, because I feel like I’d be so much happier if I could concentrate on what I have instead of dwelling on what I don’t. But I have a somewhat obsessive personality, so it’s usually pretty difficult to get things out of my head once they’re there. Anyway, even though my birthday is still a month and a half away, here’s a list of the things I want, to help get them off the brain. And then maybe you could get something for me! ;-)
