I'm not sure what I'm still doing up. Sam and I fell asleep when we really didn't mean to, and now I'm feeling kind of awake after taking Powder out and letting my hair dry. I haven't really been sleeping well lately, either. It's because of this stupid skin thing I have. Friday night, even after getting rather drunk, I couldn't stay asleep for more than 3 hours before the itching drove me crazy and left me feeling wide awake. So I stayed up, watching Torchwood and Bones while eating leftover sweet potato casserole from my potluck. I'm feeling a mite tired now, though, so I'll try sleep again after this post.
I've been really into baking lately, which is mostly a good thing, since it's the holiday season already. It started with an intense craving for brownies, progressed to baking rather good box brownies in early October, then a complete fiasco of Good Eats Cocoa Brownies (completely my fault, I assure you. I'll get you someday, brownies!), and finally an experiment in the world of homemade Oreos. The Oreos weren't bad, but not quite perfected, so I think I'll have another go at it with my brand new, somewhat cheapo food processor. More on the Oreos later, I think. Anyway, tomorrow, Sam and I will be attempting apple pie completely from scratch. Yay! I think all I need to buy is a deeper pie dish (the one we have is shallow, and seems better suited for custard pies) and some butter, and I should be ready to go! If it's a success, I'll definitely make it again later this week for Thanksgiving. This is my first completely-from-scratch pie, so I'm really excited and a teensy bit nervous. Here's hoping!
